Ranch Bottoms 8855 North Fork Road Polebridge, Montana 59928.
We are located at the 28 mile marker on the North Fork Road, about
31 miles north of Columbia Falls, about 9 miles north of where
the Camas Road (a Glacier National Park road) dead ends into the
North Fork Road.
Driving the North Fork Road is an ever changing experience.
The views of the river, the national forest and into Glacier National
Park are just wonderful. Around every bend you encounter evidence
of changes in our natural environment. The North Fork was impacted
in 2003 and 2001 by huge forest fires. While devastating on one
hand, the forest fires are proof of the balances nature enforces
on all of us. You will drive through large forests untouched by
the recent fires and through areas only now beginning their long
cycle of regrowth.
The North Fork Road can be accessed from its source
in Columbia Falls. You may also start up the road from the end
of the Camas Road inside Glacier National Park. Much of the road
is gravel but the Home Ranch Bottoms is located on a stretch of
black top.
The "bottoms" is a corridor for wildlife
movement. As bears, elk, wolves and lions move in search of food
many of them use the "bottoms" as their travel path.
In the winter the "bottoms" is host to an awesome herd
of elk to enjoy the sanctuary of a large privately owned ranch.
